GRAND NATIONAL CHEESE BOARD
We have curated a fabulous English cheese board to celebrate the Grand National Horse Race taking place at the Aintree Racecourse from 9-11 April 2026.
CHEESES
- Baron Bigod Baby | Bungay, Suffolk, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk - 1 unit (250g). Jonny Crickmore has come into the world of cheesemaking with the desire to make his family dairy farm more diverse. He has invested in a herd of alpine Montbeliarde cows from France, created pastures that have the right grazing conditions, and dedicated himself and his cheesemaking unit towards making what is, in our opinion, a very fine Brie.
- Mrs Kirkham's Lancashire | Goosnargh. Lancashire, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk. (200g). The cheese can be eaten fresh & crumbly with a tangy lactic aroma & taste, or alternatively, after a few months maturing the cheese becomes denser & fuller bodied with rich mineral & earthy flavours & crème fraïche tanginess.
- Stichelton | Wellbeck Estate, Nottingham, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk (200g). Joe Schneider is making his version of a very regional blue using milk from the estate and using very small quantities of starter and rennet. It has a rich, dense and creamy paste and a delicately spiced blue, rather than an attack. Tasting alongside the Colston Bassett Stilton you recognize this cheese has its own individual character and is not a Stilton, but a true original.
